Tariq Najee-ullah of Patent Insider approached Vaba Design to collaborate on developing the invention of one of his clients. Some barbers and hair stylists specialize in using straight razors to cut or thin hair and achieve various styles that would be difficult to implement with scissors alone. Typically these razors consist of a handle shaped somewhat like half of a pair of scissors; this handle accepts standardized replacement blades.
Our client had a new idea: to prevent the user having to switch between scissors and razor, why not combine the two? Vaba Design created the product seen in these renderings, now patent-pending, manufactured, and on the market, in which the back of one of the scissor blades features the necessary geometry to support the comb-style feathering blades used in this type of hair styling.
